Vanke positions this project as “International Art Pioneer Residential Zone 2.0” — where inclusiveness breeds pioneering, which is the essence of “2.0”.
Looking at Shanghai through this lens, we find that the city’s true charm lies not in what it has become, but in its constant openness to the unknown.
It is this openness that nurtures a unique spirit of the times — a spirit that takes inclusiveness as its foundation and pioneering as its attitude. While respecting the scale of human life and living itself, it continuously transcends the established and embraces possibility. This is precisely the proposition we try to respond to in the practice of Zhongxing Aoshe.
After the project was completed, when peers repeatedly studied, visited, and discussed it, what they tried to capture was not just a rare “value sample” within Vanke, but also that indescribable yet omnipresent universal essence.
Looking back, what this project truly accomplished is not merely a breakthrough in product — it is, in essence, a systemic reshaping of cognition, judgment, and collaboration.
From product planning to design language, from operational philosophy to lifestyle, Zhongxing Aoshe ultimately presents a state of high consistency that is hard to simply replicate. This state is the soil in which “avant-garde” takes root.
Responding to such a proposition requires precisely an avant-garde spiritual attitude.
Chunfu believes that modernity is not a period in history, but an “attitude” — a disposition to critically examine the present moment and constantly transcend oneself.
Avant-garde means forever doubting the established and remaining open to possibility.
The “avant-garde” in space is embodied in a reservation for the unknown and a subtle challenge to convention.
It may be an unconventional material collision, a non-functional play of light and shadow, or a detail that breaks symmetry.
It refuses to let space become a mere comfort zone. Instead, it plants a subtle “wrong note” or “surprise” within elegance — awakening the inhabitant’s sensitivity to life and stimulating the continuous growth of their spiritual world.
Avant-garde is the gaze that space casts toward the future.
